5 Days Journey through the Great Rift Valley to Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Discover the contrasting scenery, cultures and wildlife environments of the Rift Valley Lakes and the spectacularly picturesque view of Kilimanjaro from the Amboseli Park. On the way you will experience some of the day-to-day life of tea and coffee farmers, Kikuyu villages and Maasai people plus be guided by them through their lands and lifestyles. The itinerary covers a range of environments, game parks and cultural experiences. The program has been set with the convenience of those extending into Tanzania the land of Mt. Kilimanjaro in mind. 
Accommodation on this itinerary is a mix of bush camps (fully supported) and moderate standard hotels. The bush camping section on the trip allows access to wilder areas. Although we don’t include luxury lodges on this itinerary, luxury lodge accommodation can be arranged for most of the nights if one opts for.

Day 1: Journey to Lake Nakuru
Commence from Nairobi and head into the Rift Valley to a Kikuyu homestead for exploration of subsistence farming and lunch. Then proceed to Lake Nakuru Park for game drive. You will most likely see Rhino, leopard, Rothschild’s giraffe, flamingos and much more. Camp inside the park tonight.

 

Day 2: Game drive / Coffee and tea estate visit
Morning game drive in Lake Nakuru park then visit coffee and tea estate for lunch. You can try your hand at picking tea and coffee if you like. Later drive to Naivasha for overnight at a comfortable lakeside resort.

 

Day 3: Hell’s gate walking safari.
Drive to Hellsgate and hike across the park to the gorge. We walk among giraffes, gazelles, zebras, elands, hartebeests among others. The gorge has volcanic formations, geysers and hot springs. Overnight at lakeside resort.

 

Day 4: Journey on to Amboseli Park.
An awesome morning boatride and gamewalk at L. Naivasha. Then drive to Amboseli with a brief stop at Rock House at Nairobi for lunch. Arrival at Amboseli for evening game drive – Amboseli Park is famous for being the best spot in Africa to get close to free-ranging elephants and enjoy views of northern slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. You also have opportunity to meet the Maasai tribesmen and view animals such as buffaloes, lions, leopards, wildebeests, zebras, hippos and abundant birdlife. Overnight in a moderate tented camp.

 

Day 5: Kilimanjaro viewing / Journey on to Tanzania.
Morning game drives in Amboseli, then proceed via Namanga border into Tanzania. The journey to Arusha (Tanzania) or Nairobi from here takes approximately 2hrs.
