Greater Kudu in Lake Bogoria National park
Day 1: Depart early from Nairobi to Lake Bogoria National Reserve. On the way we make numerous stops to admire the Great Rift Valley and its varied landscapes. We arrive at Lake Bogoria Hotel in time for lunch. In the afternoon we visit Lake Bogoria National Reserve. Lake Bogoria is a shallow alkaline lake on the floor of the rift valley and is a natural abode of thousands of flamingoes. With its steaming hot springs and geysers and a variety of bird and animal species, Lake Bogoria National Reserve is a truly one of the most beautiful reserves to explore on foot. It is this park that one has the chance to see the rare Greater Kudu. On arrival we either walk or drive along the lake shores stopping to admire flamingoes, geysers and hot springs and search for the rare greater Kudu among other wild animals. Dinner and overnight at Lake Bogoria Hotel.
Day 2: Day trip to Lake Baringo for boat ride on the lake and bird walk on the shores of the lake to see the abundant birdlife as well as crocodiles and hippopotamuses. Lake Baringo is one of the two fresh water lakes of the Gregorian Rift valley. Situated in the semi arid part of the country, this vast fresh water lake exudes the impression of calm and serenity surrounded by high mountains from afar. With over four hundred species of birdlife, this lake is truly birds’ paradise for those with an ornithological appetite. This lake has several islands which are inhabited by the Njemps herdsmen cum fishermen. The Njemps are one of the three Maa speakers others being the Samburu and Maasai. After the boat ride there is an option of a bird walk or visit of the Njemps village. Later you return to Lake Bogoria Hotel for dinner and overnight.

Rhino in lake nakuru national park
Day 3: Depart from Bogoria via Lake Nakuru for game drive and later drive to the shores of Lake Elementaita for overnight. At only 4kms from Nakuru town and covering an area of 180square kilometers, Lake Nakuru is a world famous bird and rhino sanctuary. The park encompasses Lake Nakuru, a rift valley soda lake, and two forests – acacia and euphorbia forests. Millions of flamingoes paint this park with its shimmering pink color. Other birds include pelicans, ostrich, marabou, ibis, eagles, vultures, woodpeckers, touracos, barbets, among others. Due to this park’s prolific birdlife, the park has lately been declared a World’s Important Bird Area. Day 6: Early morning game drive in the park and later depart for Amboseli national park. This is where you can see large herds of elephants and plains game, giraffes, gazelles, lions, leopards etc roaming the plains. The permanent swamps in the park ensure that there is a constant source of water for the animals and so through out the year one is assured of seeing wildlife in this park. The presence of these swamps is as a result of underground infiltration of water from the slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Overnight at campsite on the edge of the park.
